A Daeva’s Faithful Companion

Wandering around the scattered lands of Atreia can sometimes be lonely, so it is always nice to know you have your fuzzy little companions with you. Pets in Aion are faithful companions to the player, always with you no matter where you go. They have their own personalities and styles, from adorable to whimsical to fierce which reflects on the player themselves. Having a pet is something special to a Daeva. Not only do they speak volumes about your character’s personality, but a lot of pets also help you out as you run around Atreia. For me, I’m always out playing and adventuring with my pet kitters: Slash and Bastet. They help me out so much. If you are planning on picking up a pet in Aion, here are some tips everyone should know.

Adopting your Pet:

For a Daeva to start the adoption process, you need to get a pet egg. Pet eggs can be found in a few different locations. In game, you can buy the egg of your desire from a Pet Merchant with kinah, work to get an egg via doing specialty quests from organizations or if they come up in the Luna Shop, you can buy them with crystals. Out of game, there are unique pets on the Black Cloud Market as well and that you can buy with real money.

Now that you have bought your new pet egg, you just need to hatch it! To hatch an egg, you talk to the Pet Minder. The Pet Minder can be found in your faction’s capital cities. Think up a name to name your new buddy on the way there. With a little bit of kinah you are now the proud owner of a cute bouncing dagg puppy! They’re so cute! You can even put little scarves on them or ribbons during the hatching process.

As a note, pets are per character not account. So if you hatch an egg on your Gladiator, it won’t be in your Chanter’s pet list. Also, be creative and think of a few names, someone else may have thought of the first name you picked and have gotten it first. Having fun backups make your pet special to you.

Pet types:

Not all pets are made equal. Like cabinets there are lots of different types of pets. Some pets are designed just to keep you company and others will offer you help on the battlefield. There are a lot of options! The pets can be broken down into eight types: Companion, Alarm, Fortune, Pack, Loot, Buff, Merchant, and Cheer. Some pets can even do more than one of these types!

Companion pets:

As your loyal companion, companion pets are here to be your friend and be adorable. They will make you smile as they jump around you and as you play with them.

Alarm pets:

These little guys are here to give you a heads up! When a player of the opposing faction is close, alarm pets will flash a light and make a warning sounds to alert you to get ready. You have to be careful though. While alarm pets want to help, if you are silenced you won’t be able to hear the sound the pet is giving off. If the enemy is invisible, even the pet won’t know the enemy is around.

Fortune pets:

Most pets don’t need to be fed but with fortune pets the player can feed them. These are one of only two pet types that the player can feed. Why? Well, a fortune pet will take the food that you give them and give you a special gift back in return! Depending on the food you give them, the quality of the gift will change. Items you could see given are: items to sell for kinah, metals, dyes, weapons, and even wings.

Pack pets:

Pack pets are like mobile cabinets. They have their own inventory and can help you store additional items. Depending on the pet pack, they can carry anywhere from six to thirty-four more items. Slash, my kitter, has a bag that lets me carry 26 additional items. He’s great, though he can be a bit sassy when I play with him.

Loot pets:

These pets help you loot items from mobs that you kill. They will go around to fallen enemies that you haven’t looted yet and pick up the items for you. The loot they grab will go right into your inventory.

Buff pets:

Buff pets or Buff masters as they are sometimes called are pets that you can place consumables in and they will use them for you. The consumable could be scrolls, potions, or food. Whenever the timer on the consumable’s effect runs out, the pet will use the item again, refreshing it for you.

Merchant pets:

Whenever you are out in the wilderness of Atreia, you can sell your items with these pets right on the field. They are a portable merchant and will give you full price for your goods. So when your inventory gets filled up with items for kinah, you don’t have to run back to a fortress to find a merchant. You can sell right there and keep on moving. Bastet is a merchant and is always willing to buy my stuff with a friendly kitty smile.

Cheer pets:

Finally the last type: cheer pets. These guys are the other pet type which the player can feed items to. These pets eat only a specific food: aether cherries. Unlike the fortune pets, cheer pets, when fed a cherry, will provide the player stat boosts. This can increase five various stats depending on the pet.

Though you may be out in the abyss, soaring over fragmented islands, you can always take comfort in knowing your pet is flying right behind you. They will keep you company and help you through thick and thin. Truly they are a Daevas most faithful companion, I know mine are. If you want to share some stories about your pets in Aion, leave a comment below. I would love to hear about them. Until then, may Azphel’s shadow and Ariel’s light guide you.

  1. I think that your blog is really cool. I am terrible at games lol however I love to watch because its really cool how detailed and live like they can be. Atreia seems really cool, especially that you can adopt a pet. This reminds me of when I had a Giga pet. It started as a small egg and I had to nurture it and take care of it just like if I actually had a pet myself. I really hope to have a puppy one day but after reading your blog I think I will give this a try until I get one. Great post!

    • Azphelumbra! Thank you so much for your kind words! There are a lot of people that play Aion with all different levels of play style and experience, everyone is welcome in Atreia.

It’s great you’re thinking about getting a puppy, I love animals myself. If you want to try Aion and get a pet in the meantime, there are a ton of pets out there. They are a lot of fun to have. If you want a puppy, there are quite of few different types of daggs (puppies), some look like Labradors, wolves, foxes, and more! If you do give Aion a try, I hope to see you in-game someday!

  2. I’d didn’t get to play the game for a long enough time before my computer died to really look into getting pets. Now that I find my self wanting to get back into playing, I was wondering how the pet system worked. I had no idea there was such a verity of pets to choose from. Really great post! This helped me out. Thanks!

    • Azphelumbra! Great to hear from another player, I’m glad that this helped explain the pet system. There are quite a wide variety of pets. Hopefully you’ll be able play again soon. What faction did you play?

  3. Ok, so as a gamer who has never heard of this game after reading this I definitely want to check it out! This seems like a more hardcore version of Pokemon ahah. Anyhow this was an easy read which for me is essential when gaming because if I’m already confused about a certain aspect of a game the LAST thing I need is a confusing “guide”. It really grinds my gears when I’m playing games like Legend of Zelda (Breath of the Wild is amazing), and I need a walkthrough and it ends up being more confusing than the game itself! Pretty cool definitely going to check it out!
